Video Cutter Max by SoundInDepth is a video editing tool. It performs a very basic function: it cuts video files. In other words, it can "grab" a part of your video and make it into a totally new file. By the looks of it, every video cut with this tool has to be recompressed, which results in quality loss.
Video Cutter Max has a built-in video player that can be used to preview your videos. It also plays an important role, since it is via that player that you have to set the start and end times of the video you want to cut out. By simply hitting the buttons next to the player, you can set these times. The resulting video will be saved to a new file and you can even choose the output format. What you can't do is save it without re-encoding it. On the other hand, the application can be set to shut down the computer after the task is done.
In my testing, the application worked well. It created a new file from a DIVX AVI file. It took a few minutes, but that was because it had to recompress the video.
The Software Informer website will tell you that this program has viruses. I ran a virustotal.com check and I found that most antivirus programs indeed detected adware threats.
